20. VIENNA ART WEEK

Every year, the festival has a theme, which serves as an inspiration for the program partners and also as a guideline for the content of VIENNA ART WEEK’s own program.

On the occasion of its 20th edition, VIENNA ART WEEK 2024 approaches the phenomenon of time from different angles with its motto.

Time has always preoccupied philosophers and artists. Already the Ancient Greek used the concepts of chronos and kairos in an attempt to make the different dimensions of time tangible. Over the centuries, numerous artists have artistically explored transience, the perception and the measurement of time.

Time is also seen as a precious resource that shapes our modern lives and plays an important role in social and feminist discourses. This year’s VIENNA ART WEEK invites visitors to reflect on the fleeting and profound nature of time.

Over 100 events with free admission in institutions, independent spaces, exhibition spaces and galleries ensure a varied, exciting program throughout the week. Once again, outreach is a top priority.

This year, under the motto “VIENNA ART WEEK for all”, there will once again be an extensive inclusive program for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

The entire program will be online from 1 October 2024.
