VERNISSAGE: 7th November, 7pm

Galerie Peter Gaugy is pleased to present Weaving Time: Gender, Labor, and Disrupted Chronologies, an exhibition curated by Deniz Güvensoy for Vienna Art Week.

Weaving Time brings together the works of Miriam Bajtala, Ebru Kurbak, Jelena Micić, and Maria Walcher to explore alternative, non-linear perceptions of time. These artists challenge the modernist view of time centered on progress and capital accumulation, emphasizing themes of memory, care, and often-invisible gendered labor. Each artist offers a unique perspective on how time shapes—and is shaped by—our bodies, minds, and social constructs, creating a rich tapestry that disrupts conventional chronologies.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Galerie Peter Gaugy and curator Deniz Güvensoy from Fabrikraum Kunstverein – an important independent art space within Vienna’s experimental landscape. Opening concurrently at Fabrikraum is Memory in Motion: Architecture of Perseverance, an exhibition by architect and artist Bogdan Sereyak, also curated by Deniz Güvensoy.

Our collaboration aims to foster meaningful dialogue between established galleries and the broader independent art community, bridging the gap between formal art settings and Vienna’s vibrant experimental scene. With over 75 independent art spaces, Vienna provides a fertile environment for new voices and experimental projects, and this partnership reflects our commitment to supporting these exchanges.
