MOTHERBOARD X RADICAL CARE invite you to the SHARING SESSION: DREAMS & IMAGINATIVE FORCES as part of the installative scenery ‘WICKED FUTURES & the Board of Imagination’.

In times of uncertainty and fragmentation, imagination becomes a decisive force. The SHARING SESSION: DREAMS & IMAGINATIVE FORCES explores how imagination, creative thinking and artistic expression can serve as powerful tools to envision alternative futures, reshape realities and restore solidarity in seemingly jinxed futures. In this session, artists and participants come together to share their perspectives and open a space for collective dreaming and transformative dialog.

SHARING SESSION is an ongoing MOTHERBOARD series. It aims to create a safe space that opens a window for hopeful and visionary thoughts. This series explores societal challenges by bringing people together to share ideas, potentials, and meals while delving into notions of care, activism, and togetherness. Inspired by Ursula Le Guin’s ‘Carrier Bag Theory,’ which emphasizes the collection not only of food but also the seeds of plants, their stories, and perspectives, encouraging exchange and sharing within our circle and beyond. All participants are invited to bring something so that the act of caring for each other and carrying the energy of this moment of togetherness is shared by each participant.

Participation note: Bring an object, a song, a story, an impulse or a dream related to a possible positive future of our home planet. Share with us what images make you feel hopeful or spark inspiration – whether a small memory, an images or quote of a book. The SHARING SESSION aims to create a welcoming space where people come together to share seeds, stories, and food while exploring our relationships with plants, society and other vibrant species.

SHARING SESSION: November 10, 6 pm

‘WICKED FUTURES & the Board of Imagination’ transform MOTHERBOARD into an immersive yellow space, merging a laboratory and film studio-like setting. Experts, artists, and the audience are invited to explore “wicked” constellations and imagine alternative futures on a large-scale sculptural constellation board. A central anchor point of the installation is the “Board of Imagination”. Inspired the therapeutic system board, it offers the opportunity to bring together different perspectives and participants to think together about future scenarios. Inspired by Ruha Benjamin’s belief in the power of imagination, this research journey delves into the potential of collective imagining. The installation also features sci-fi-inspired video works by Ralo Mayer, Borjana Ventzislavova, and Anna Vasof, offering humorous reflections on existing sci-fi imagery, sketching visions of new worlds, or playfully adjusting dystopian images of our current one.

WICKED FUTURES & the Board of Imagination is produced by RADICAL CARE (Stephanie Winter & Nora Mayr)
