Following the motto “Inciting Passion”, this nocturnal performance will share and unite passions. Artists from different disciplines and backgrounds were invited to take over a space and, in a collective process, develop an evening focusing on communion, taking up site specific traditional elements and connecting them to the contemporary.

For this special format, an equally special location, likewise charged with “Passion”, is taken over: within the framework of a night opening, the Jesuit Church in the heart of  the first district becomes the setting for VIENNA ART WEEK’S artistic and performative intervention “Nocturnal (Com)Passion”.

The collective performance of interdisciplinary artists opens a space for new dialogues, individuality and interaction, experiments and the intersection of artists and art forms. Spanning media and the senses, demarcation, in an artistic or more encompassing sense, is contested with openness and sensitivity to the “other” in a touching way.

Artists:

Rozi Mákó (Sound)

Construction Choir Collective (Vocals)

Viktor Szeri (Performance)

Roman Hauser/Jesuit Church (Organ)

ROZI MÁKÓ – Structured improvisation, experimental music and the unrepeatable eternity of the present moment. Her live performances are slowly unfolding musical experiences that are both gently harmonious and embarrassingly noisy. The sounds appearing in the musical structure created by Mákó invite the listener to travel; meditative immersion in continuous renewal.

VIKTOR SZERI – is an independent performer and choreographer based in Budapest. His spontaneous and improvisational creative processes are usually motivated by a desire to express a mood or a feeling. Yet, dance always plays a crucial role in his work: for him, it is a language through which the imperfect, transient and vulnerable human body can break free of the constraints of social norms. His performances are visceral: blurring the boundaries between the stage and the auditorium, they invite us into intimate realities where the audience has an active role.

CONSTRUCTION CHOIR COLLECTIVE (CCC) – is a generally accessible, open and democratic collective of artistic work. Its members are committed to an attitude of solidarity with each other and with society and are therefore also open to inexperienced singers. The collective creates all contributions under its own direction, inspired and supported by the people participating. Performances take place in unusual contexts and places, such as the subway, stairwells, rivers and residential streets. The choir wants to irritate and consciously stand out from the usual everyday images.

A church night,

curated by Juliana Furthner

TIP: DAS WEISSE HAUS provides an afternoon program to warm up for the evening and invites you to a tarot card reading with Pêdra Costa and the sound performance “INVERTED SUN” by Ernst Lima. After the performance of Ernst Lima a collective walk will lead from das weisse haus to the Jesuit Church.
