This year’s FACING TIME line-up by VIENNA ART WEEK is all about time. Inspiring international guests from the fields of art, business and science will shed light on the topic from different perspectives, and a top-class panel discussion will focus on “20 editions of VIENNA ART WEEK, 20 years of Vienna as a city of art”. This will be followed by a short presentation of the anniversary publication and an aperitif.
14.30 Panel discussion “New times, new practices – creating with AI”
How is the use of AI changing creative practices? What are the advantages and challenges? What impetus is coming from creatives to produce exceptional work that stands out from generative algorithmic content and opens up new perspectives? In this talk, creatives from Vienna will provide insights into how they are currently using AI in their work.

Short biographies:
Georg Hobmeier. Born in the mountains of Austria, Georg Hobmeier’s career trajectory has taken him from performer to game designer. He straddles the lines between producer, narrative designer, and educator. Georg’s artistic sensibilities & leadership in the industry has helped to push the medium further into new territories.
Stephanie Meisl has been working in the media art, film and advertising industry for over 20 years. She is known for her award-winning AI art projects and her role as co-founder of the art collective D#AVANTGARDE – new technology, art and creativity. The use of new technologies in art projects and the experiences associated with them form the basis for sharing her knowledge and promoting digital literacy. She has gained international recognition as a curator, keynote speaker and panelist.

David Reiterer is an Austrian musician who lives and works in Vienna. With his band Lucy Dreams, he is one of the pioneers of the SonicWaveArtPop genre, which is attracting increasing attention in the field of modern music and art. His guiding principle is to combine various contemporary forms of expression with modern production in order to inspire innovative, forward-looking ideas for the further development of the creative individual. In an era of profound technological transformation, he dedicates the musical sci-fi narrative of Lucy Dreams to the exploration and integration of technology into creative processes.

Valerie Messini is a registered architect, digital artist and Senior Scientist at the Weibel Institute for Digital Cultures at the University for Applied Arts Vienna. Her research dives into the concept of nothingness, examining how digital technologies and digital design tools impact space, identity, and perception, alongside the role of immersive media and virtual space in shaping our understanding and interaction with the digital realm.
