EVENT LANGUAGE: GERMAN
This year’s FACING TIME line-up by VIENNA ART WEEK is all about time. Inspiring international guests from the fields of art, business and science will shed light on the topic from different perspectives, and a top-class panel discussion will focus on “20 editions of VIENNA ART WEEK, 20 years of Vienna as a city of art”. This will be followed by a short presentation of the anniversary publication and an aperitif.
5:20-5:50 “ARTIST TALK WITH CLAUDIA MÄRZENDORFER & MANFRED ERJAUTZ”
As part of the discussion, Manfred Erjautz and Claudia Märzendorfer will present selected artistic works and reflect on the central theme of time. Both artists will elaborate on their individual approaches to engaging with the concept of time in their art, offering deeper insights into their creative processes and ideas. Under the guidance of Robert Punkenhofer (Artistic Director VIENNA ART WEEK), an engaging dialogue will emerge that not only highlights the unique perspectives of the artists but also explores the role of time in contemporary artistic practice.
Bios:
Claudia Märzendorfer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and graduated under Bruno Gironcoli. In her works, she dissects situations and constructed conditions and reassembles them, at least mentally. She sees the world as a material. The resulting images are comprehensively researched and yet do not lack a pop effect that makes them immediately understandable. Claudia Märzendorfer creates a world alongside the world as she perceives social constructions and conditions as restrictive and describes this as a motor. The continuous axes of her work are time and music, which the artist also understands as the only neutral currencies.
Recent works by Claudia Märzendorfer are on display at the Neue Kunstverein Wien in her exhibition “PS” until March 31, 2025.
