EVENT LANGUAGE: GERMAN
Art is capable of documenting and capturing time, connecting past and present and thus sensitizing us to issues relevant to our times. Art is able to imagine the future.
In keeping with the motto of this year’s VIENNA ART WEEK, the Heidi Horten Collection invites visitors on a kind of journey through time, approaching past eras from the perspective of today, as well as examining contemporary art for continuity and historical references and exploring current issues. While the permanent exhibition Klimt ⇄ Warhol illuminates important chapters in the (art-)history of the 20th century, the special exhibition Light Sound Senses with works of contemporary art shows time under different aspects: on the one hand as an objectively measurable physical unit, on the other as a subjective quantity in which individual and collective experiences are inscribed and in which transience is revealed
