The OpenCave shows an excerpt from the installation “feminitiv” by Michael Bachhofer, Karin Watabe-Wolfger and Karl Wratschko. The commissioned work was initiated by the Klanglicht curator Birgit Lill due to the current accumulation of violence against women in Austria for the Klanglicht Festival in Graz from October 27, 2021 to October 30, 2021.
Using projection mapping onto a 3D printed mask of the goddess Diana, who is also the patron saint of women and girls, the artists breathe life into the mask. 24 red pairs of shoes, which symbolize the femicides perpetrated this year, stand around on the lawn like grave lights in a cemetery. An angry and somewhat crazy goddess loosens up the serious situation and intervenes. She calls on people to actively overthrow patriarchy and initiate a change in society.

OpenCave
OpenCave consists of a basement studio and a showroom (offCave) on the ground floor, which can be viewed 24/7. Our goal is to promote contemporary art in a non-artistic environment, which we realize in the form of individual and group exhibitions, as well as screenings and ArtCrits.
